The Devil Inside Opening Credits Deep Analysis.

The Opening credits to the movie devil inside in my opinion are very effective. Basically it is a woman ‘ Maria Rose ‘ , who I learned later on in the movie is possessed. She is making a phone call to the police department speaking about the people she has killed.

The speech at the beginning straight away gives you a sense of the horror genre. The voice used is very scary the diegetic sound gives an instant impact to the audience  it makes them  believe that the woman definitely has something wrong with her.

The setting of the opening it firstly a woman in her home speaking to a man In a police department. You can not see the woman making the phone call which is a good technique as it leaves you second guessing on what has actually happened in the home . After the phone call ends it goes to the murder scene . The scene  of the police first entering the home is not filmed on the typical modern movie camera. It is meant to be like a police officer is showing you his first finding , just as you are seeing the findings. It allows you to relate to the situation as there are no in particular shots in this , it is just the footage of one man.

The house is very messy with lamps and furniture all offer the room , this is suggesting there is something wrong going on in the home as it really has not been taken care off. This at first may no be seen that there is not a lot of detail but it adds such a great input. After this they move into the ‘ murder scene ‘  you see a wrench on the floor with blood everywhere , the officer explain that it is the murder weapon , it gives you an insight on the brutality of the murders. It gives a sence on a psychotic desperate killer using whatever they can , then you relate it to the strange voice of Maria at the beginning of the credits and it lets you put all the pieces together.

The next part is very strange for opening titles , you actually see a dead  body which is strange as you do not really reveal any deep information , but this straight away allow you to see deep into the situation from the point of view from the policeman .

The lighting used is very low key with little filler lights , showing a dark situation which relates with the murders.
