Openening scene analysis of SAW 1

The opening credits of SAW 1 are quite effective. They are not the best I have seen by a long shot but I believe they have some value.

First of all the sound used gives an instant impact. You can hear the sound of water dripping down or almost the sound of someone moving  around in water. This diegetic sounds draws you in as you begin to wonder what is actually happening. Also when the producers and directors names are shown on board he use of a sudden spooky noise comes on screen this is non diegetic and this sound is very strange and sets an instant mood for the movie.

The actual titles in the play resemble water with the effect hat has been given to them ,  this help emphasise the use of the sound of water inside of then opening credits.

After the names have been presented there is only one filler which is floating in the water. This is the only light used in the scene which adds a very mysterious effect to the credits , as when the filler shows you can see a mans face inside a bath of water. The use of a mysterious situation gets you on edge and make you ponder why someone would be in water and what sport of situation they would be in. This linked with the sounds at the start of the credits makes you begin to understand that this is a very tense film and that someone bad is happening to this man.
