Sound Used In Film & Production

Hello , this is again all about my previous lesson on sound and the meaning it gives to film and production i hope you find the information provided useful !

Types of sound used

- Theme music/tune
- Sound effect
- Ambient Sound
- Dialogue
- Voiceover
- Direct Address
- Diegetic Sound
- Non - Diegetic Sound
- Parallel Sound
- Contrapuntal Sound

After introducing the types of sound used we went into more detail with each thing : 

Theme music/tune 

- A recurrent melody 

Sound effects 

- Sounds other than dialogue and music added artificially 

Ambient sound

- Buzz and/or surrounding sound

Dialogue 

- Speech

Voiceover

- Narration in a film not accompanied by a synchronized image of the speaker forming the words

Direct address 

- When characters speak directly to the camera I.E. the audience

Diegetic Sound

- Any sound that has an on screen source and belongs to the world of film

Non-Diegetic Sound

- Any sound that does not have an on screen source & characters on screen do not hear it

Parallel Sound 

- Sound that complement the action 

Contrapuntal Sound

- Sound that does not fit with the image track
