Props used in Films and Television Series that link to my movie.

I am analysings props in other scenes of movires and television series that relate with my film and how they are used to add tension.

This is knife from the TV series dexter , although dexter is not a complete horror it has elements of horror inside of it , this is him simply eating breakfast but with the mannor of how they have showed the knife on the plate with bright red sauce on it is very brutal and intimidating. The red sauce is a representation of blood , and red is a conventional horror colour.

This links with our horror movie as we are also showing a morning routine and how Mr Vicini goes about his business in the morning but does it in a very brutal manor.

 

This is another knife from dexter i have chosen this knife as the shape is very interesting. The knife has sharp ridged edges and this allows the knife to almost have a personality of horror and fear , each knife in a horror movie usualyl has its own special features. The knife also has very sharp ends which again shows how it could easily kill someone when really it is just an household object .

 

 

This links with out movie again as we are using a knife to cut up a carrot and we want it to be very brutal like this scene in dexter , we want our knife to have its own special features that will scare people when it is still a normal everyday household object.

 



This is a  scene from dexter again , it is a scene of him dragging a garbage bag. The garbage bag seems to have a body inside which obviously represents death and that the killer is dragging the body. A bin bag is used as you can usually see the outline of something that is inside it as it very thin , also bin bags are used to take out rubbish and not dead bodys which could represent that the body is just rubbish to the killer.

This links with my movie as we are also using the bin bag inside of our opening , we are using the bin bag for the reasons explained above i believe that it gives a very good sense of horror due to not knowing what is exactly inside of the bin bag , but guessing that it is a body keeps you on the edge of your seat and leaves you second guessing. Also it allows us to put the rubbish into the bin again showing that the killer has no concience and that killing is almost a second nature to him.
